Cara Lynn Smith is a seasoned professional with more than 14 years work in public relations, journalism, event management, graphic design and new media. Her career experience includes six years as a media relations director in the university sector and five years of non-profit experience in communications, programming and fundraising. She is a versatile team player and leader who sees no job as too big or too small.
Throughout the years, Smith has developed a myriad of skills that she would like to share with small businesses, non-profits and individuals who are looking for high quality media and event expertise that fits their budget. She serves to meet marketing and public relations needs with a hospitable, enthusiastic and honest approach.
Truly a "southern traveler," Smith has worked in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida and Texas. She has done a variety of freelance work for several years in areas ranging from website design to sporting events. Her past and present clients include Bad Brad & The Sipsey Slims, The Tuscaloosa Sports Commission, Crimson Tide Sports Marketing, Caring Days, Inc., Hope Center for Teens, the Alabama Blues Women Showcase, Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi, and many more.
She has excellent written and oral communications skills as well as being extremely proficient in desktop publishing, web and graphic design.
Since April of 2011, Smith has been working for Arts 'n Autism assisting the Executive Director and Program Manager with after-school and summer camp programming, events, fundraising and public relations. She designed a new website for Arts 'n Autism and produces many promotional materials for the unique and growing non-profit. Smith enjoys working with the children and young adults of Arts 'n Autism through her role as a photography/journalism instructor and Girl Scout Troop Leader.

Smith's career resume also includes six years as a media relations director for intercollegiate athletics at University of West Florida and Millsaps College. She worked as a graphic designer for The Oxford EAGLE and editor of The Planet Weekly entertainment newspaper. For four years, she was the program director, events and public relations specialist for Alabama Blues Project and continued to develop marketing strategies, produce promotional materials and liaise between the organization and the media, as well as the community at large, in addition to heading up an award-winning Blues Camp for children. She volunteers her services now as a member of the ABP Board of Directors.
Smith has delved into the use of social and new media outlets to post information, photos and videos. Additional skills include photography, videography and editing.
